Incontro Ecumenico e Interreligioso "Testimoni di Pace e di Fraternità"

 “Una pace disarmata e disarmante”. Sua Santità, ha condensato in 3 parole quello che occorre all’umanità, oggi ma anche per il domani, come ecclesiasta taoista, la condivido pienamente perché il Canone del Tao e del suo Carisma, una nostra scrittura di 2.400 anni fa, dice:

 

Punta all'essenza, abbraccia ciò che non è artefatto, diminuisci l'egocentrismo, riduci i desideri.

 

Papa Leone con “disarmata”, ha puntato all’essenza. Infatti, fin quando ci saranno armi, non ci potrà essere pace. Ma le armi non sono unicamente belliche sono anche culturali e sociali.

 

È evidente a tutti che siamo in piena barbarie. Un momento storico in cui:

1)      La guerra è tornata a essere uno strumento ordinario di regolazione dei conflitti;

2)      di conseguenza vediamo una crescente spinta al riarmo, non per necessità difensiva ma per demoniaca volontà di dominazione;

3)      Le Nazioni Unite hanno perso il loro valore;

4)      il Diritto Internazionale, ridotto a carta straccia;

5)      Holding finanziarie che tengono per la gola i governi del mondo.

E in caduta, abbiamo:

a)      una crisi dei valori sia etici sia morali.

b)      per non parlare di quelli religiosi con una tragica perdita del Senso del Sacro che praticamente è scomparso dal dibattito culturale.

A chi porta vantaggio tutto questo? Non certo a me e nemmeno a voi.

Purtroppo deleghiamo a chi non dovremmo, la nostra sovranità esistenziale.

A mio avviso, Papa Leone con “disarmante”, ci ha dato una prospettiva coscienziale.

Disarmante vuol dire rendere impossibile l’uso delle armi offensive, belliche o culturali che siano.

E, ricalcando quel passo delle nostre scritture, le vere armi aggressive per la pace e l’Armonia fra i popoli delle terra, sono 3:

1.      indurre a pensare che l’Apparire è vero mentre l’Essere è falso,

2.      indurre desideri per cose artificiali, difficili da ottenere o comprare fino all’indebitamento,

3.      indurre a credere sia giusto anteporre i propri desideri a chiunque si metta sulla propria strada.

Credo che, in sintesi, Sua Santità punta a un disarmo, non solo materiale ma culturale e quindi istituzionale. Di fatto, una pace disarmata e disarmante può essere ottenuta solo con l’educazione, anzi la ri-educazione delle coscienze.

Bisogna sostituire la “Ragion Bellica”, che oggi, in modo perverso, ci viene presentata come necessaria e inevitabile, e che, purtroppo infesta il discorso pubblico, con una ragione incentrata sulla “Persona Umana” che oggi praticamente non ha più valore mentre dovrebbe averne uno “assoluto”.

 

Poiché possono portare questo messaggio all’80% della popolazione mondiale, e sto parlando di circa 7 miliardi di persone, le Religioni sono le uniche Istituzioni Umane, che hanno la possibilità e il potere di farlo. Le religioni, noi religiosi, tutti noi credenti, possiamo, incidere sul potere globale!

 

Perché, allo stato attuale, non possiamo. Perché siamo singole unità separate. Non andiamo oltre il nostro orto. Piccolo o grande che sia.

Così come: ma davvero pensate che per ottenere “una pace disarmata e disarmante”, una preghiera o un piccolo corteo per la pace, possa determinare un cambio di rotta dei poteri globali?

 

Ci vuole ben altro! Ci vuole ben altra azione.

E ora vi dico qual è, o dovrebbe essere.

 

Avevo 9 anni, quel 25 marzo 1965 ma le immagini che ho visto mi sono rimaste scolpite nella mente

per sempre. 25.000 persone negre, guidate da Martin Luter King, con una marcia di 80 km, durata 4 giorni, piegarono il potente governo degli Stati Uniti. Le Leggi sulla discriminazione razziale furono abolite per sempre. Perché, al contrario delle innumerevoli altre manifestazioni, questa ebbe successo, influenzando persino l’opinione pubblica mondiale?

Perché soddisfarono 4 elementi chiave:

1.      Visibilità (presenza)

2.      Numero

3.      Identità Unica

4.      Silenzio

 

Se non ti fai vedere, chi sa di te?

Se siamo uno sparuto gruppo, la società non ci ascolta perché non ci vede.

Se mettiamo insieme più ragioni nella stessa manifestazione, la società non ci capisce quindi non siamo credibili.

Comunque sia, credo che il silenzio sia stato l’elemento più importante. Immaginate questa massa in movimento, che non grida, non urla slogan, silenziosa e determinata, nonostante migliaia di loro furono arrestati. Ecco io credo che, per rispondere all’invito di Sua Santità, dovremmo riuscire in una impresa simile. Che abbia queste 4 caratteristiche. Certo, nessuno di noi è Martin Luter King ma tutti ne possiamo incarnare lo spirito di giustizia e eguaglianza che animava lui.

 

In conclusione, senza dubbio la Chiesa Taoista d’Italia fa proprie le parole di Papa Leone e aderisce a qualsiasi iniziativa, purché concreta e fattibile, vogliamo mettere in atto.

Ma le parole senza azione, restano folate di vento la cui forza permette solo di sollevare insignificanti foglie, già morte.

Per questo, concludo con le parole del compianto e amato Papa Francesco:

 

Siamo tutti fratelli e sorelle della stessa Famiglia Umana.

Viviamo nella stessa casa comune.

 

Se crediamo in questo, allora:

 

1)      Abbiamo il dovere morale di rafforzare la prima.

2)      Abbiamo il diritto etico di proteggere la seconda.

3)      Abbiamo una responsabilità collettiva verso la tutela dei diritti e la prevenzione dei conflitti.

 

Infine, se condividiamo l’idea di una Pace Disarmata e Disarmante, non dobbiamo dimenticare MAI

 chi siamo e perché lo siamo. Siamo “credenti” e lo siamo perché ci crediamo.

Le religioni, oltre ai 4 punti che ho detto, hanno un 5° elemento che sovrasta tutti gli altri: la FEDE.

Le nostre Scritture dicono:     Sii un esempio per il mondo

e il potere divino non ti mancherà mai!

Azione nel mondo e Protezione Divina è un binomio presente anche nelle vostre Scritture.  Sto pensando al Salmo 23 e in particolare al 91 al Corano, Sura 112,  113 e 114, al Gadatta Sutta buddista. Se abbiamo FEDE, quindi siamo fedeli ai principi in cui crediamo, se diamo Testimonianza visibile, dei valori spirituali in cui crediamo e che danno senso alla nostra esistenza, non possiamo dubitare della presenza e della protezione divine quando la nostra volontà umana aderisce a essa.

Questa e solo questa è la vera forza delle religioni.

Grazie a questa forza possiamo incidere sulla storia e costruire, insieme, una società equa e solidale.

In più ogni credente ha un Mandato Divino, un imperativo cui dobbiamo rispondere.

Le nostre scritture insegnano che:

Lo stesso insegnamento lo troviamo nel Vangelo di Matteo 5:9, così come nel Corano, Sura 49:10, e nel Metta Sutra buddista.

Noi credenti siamo un unico popolo, sebbene in cammino su sentieri diversi

 

Ma se siamo visibili insieme, silenziosi ma determinati, illuminati dalla fiamma della nostra FEDE, inesorabilmente saremo gli operatori di una pace Disarmata e Disarmante.

"An unarmed and disarming peace." His Holiness has condensed into three words what humanity needs, both today and tomorrow. As a Taoist cleric, I fully agree with this statement because the Canon of the Tao and its Charisma, a 2,400-year-old scripture, states:

 

Aim for the essence, embrace what is not artificial, diminish egocentrism, reduce desires.

 

Pope Leo, with "unarmed," aimed for the essence. Indeed, as long as there are weapons, there can be no peace. But weapons are not only for war; they are also cultural and social.

 

It's clear to everyone that we're in the midst of barbarism. A historical moment in which:

1) War has once again become a standard instrument for conflict resolution;

2) Consequently, we see a growing push for rearmament, not out of defensive necessity but out of a demonic desire for domination;

3) The United Nations has lost its value;

4) International Law, reduced to waste paper;

5) Financial holding companies that hold the world's governments by the throat.

And in decline, we have:

a) a crisis of both ethical and moral values.

b) not to mention religious values, with a tragic loss of the Sense of the Sacred, which has practically disappeared from cultural debate.

Who benefits from all this? Certainly not me, and not even you.

Unfortunately, we delegate our existential sovereignty to those we shouldn't.

In my opinion, Pope Leo, with his "disarming" words, has given us a conscientious perspective.

Disarming means making the use of offensive weapons, whether military or cultural, impossible.

And, echoing that passage from our scriptures, the true aggressive weapons for peace and harmony among the peoples of the earth are three:

1. inducing people to believe that appearances are true while being is false;

2. inducing desires for artificial things, difficult to obtain or buy, to the point of indebtedness;

3. inducing people to believe it is right to put one's own desires before anyone who gets in one's way.

I believe that, in short, His Holiness is aiming for disarmament, not only material but also cultural and therefore institutional. In fact, an unarmed and disarming peace can only be achieved through education, or rather the re-education of consciences.

 

We must replace the "Ragion of War," which today, perversely, is presented to us as necessary and inevitable, and which unfortunately infests public discourse, with a reason centered on the "Human Person," which today practically no longer has any value, even though it should have an "absolute" value.

 

Because they can bring this message to 80% of the world's population—and I'm talking about approximately 7 billion people—religions are the only human institutions with the ability and power to do so. Religions, we religious people, all of us believers, can influence global power!

 

Because, as things stand, we can't. Because we are separate, individual units. We don't go beyond our own backyard, small or large.

Likewise: do you really think that to achieve "an unarmed and disarming peace," a prayer or a small peace march can bring about a change of direction among global powers?

 

Much more is needed! Much more action is needed.

And now I'll tell you what it is, or should be.

 

I was 9 years old on that March 25, 1965, but the images I saw have remained etched in my mind

forever. 25,000 Black people, led by Martin Luther King, with an 80km march that lasted four days, subdued the powerful United States government. The laws against racial discrimination were abolished forever. Why, unlike countless other demonstrations, was this one successful, even influencing world public opinion?

Because they met four key elements:

1. Visibility (presence)

2. Number

3. Unique Identity

4. Silence

 

If you don't show up, who knows about you?

If we're a small group, society won't listen to us because it can't see us.

If we combine multiple reasons in the same demonstration, society won't understand us, so we're not credible.

In any case, I believe silence was the most important element. Imagine this mass in motion, not shouting or shouting slogans, silent and determined, despite thousands of them being arrested. I believe that, to respond to His Holiness's invitation, we should succeed in a similar undertaking. May it have these four characteristics. Of course, none of us is Martin Luther King, but we can all embody the spirit of justice and equality that inspired him.

 

In conclusion, the Taoist Church of Italy undoubtedly embraces Pope Leo's words and supports any initiative, as long as it is concrete and feasible, we wish to implement.

But words without action remain gusts of wind whose strength only lifts insignificant, already dead leaves.

Therefore, I conclude with the words of the late and beloved Pope Francis:

 

We are all brothers and sisters of the same Human Family.

We live in the same common home.

 

If we believe this, then:

1) We have a moral duty to strengthen the first.

2) We have the ethical right to protect the second.

3) We have a collective responsibility to protect rights and prevent conflict.

 

Finally, if we share the idea of ​​a Disarmed and Disarming Peace, we must NEVER forget

who we are and why we are. We are "believers," and we are so because we believe.

Religions, in addition to the four points I mentioned, have a fifth element that surpasses all others: FAITH.

Our Scriptures say: “Be an example to the world and divine power will never fail you!”

 

Action in the world and Divine Protection are a pairing also present in your Scriptures. I'm thinking of Psalm 23, and in particular Psalm 91, the Quran, Sura 112, 113, and 114, and the Buddhist Gadatta Sutta. If we have FAITH, and therefore are faithful to the principles we believe in, if we bear visible witness to the spiritual values ​​we believe in and that give meaning to our existence, we cannot doubt the divine presence and protection when our human will adheres to it.

Thanks to this strength, we can influence history and build, together, a just and supportive society.

Furthermore, every believer has a Divine Mandate, an imperative we must respond to.

The saint makes the hearts of the people his own.

He accepts everyone, the good and the bad.

 

So that no one is lost.

We find the same teaching in the Gospel of Matthew 5:9, as well as in the Quran, Sura 49:10, and the Buddhist Metta Sutra.We believers are one people, albeit walking different paths.

 

But if we are visible together, silent yet determined, illuminated by the flame of our FAITH, we will inexorably be the agents of a Disarmed and Disarming Peace.

Su invito della Associazione cinese per gli scambi religiosi e culturali (ACSRC), la Federazione Mondiale Taoista (FMT) mi ha inviato come suo rappresentante per portare la voce del Taoismo in questo importante seminario.

Buddismo, Islam e Taoismo hanno dialogato fraternamente su un tema comune e attuale.

 

Questo forum, l'undicesimo sotto-forum a tema religioso consecutivo tenutosi a Boao, Hainan, è diventato un'importante piattaforma per gli scambi tra le culture religiose cinesi e straniere e per la promozione dell'apprendimento reciproco tra le civiltà.

 

Nel mio intervento ho sottolineato la profonda convergenza tra dialogo religioso e multilateralismo, rifacendomi all'antica sapienza taoista di "governare il popolo e servire il Cielo".

Ho sottolineato che la Federazione Taoista Mondiale pratica il concetto di coesistenza armoniosa e unità tra confucianesimo, buddhismo e taoismo in Cina e con le altre Fedi nel resto del mondo, in forte sintonia con l'iniziativa di governance globale del "multilateralismo", ed è sempre pronta al dialogo.

 

Inoltre, poiché circa l'80% della popolazione mondiale professa una fede religiosa, le religioni possono fungere da importante ponte per il dialogo tra le civiltà ed essere un interlocutore affidabile per i governi, sostenendo politiche sociali improntate sulla pace, l’armonia, l’accettazione delle diversità, la crescita e il bene-essere comune, evitando pericolose e dannose polarizzazioni ego-referenziate.

 

Sono convinto che le religioni debbano e possono essere operatrici di pace per scongiurare conflitti e guerre a condizione che il dialogo tra fedi diverse non si basi sulla persuasione ma pittosto sulla comprensione reciproca, sulla risoluzione dei conflitti attraverso la tolleranza e l'apprendimento reciproco.

 

Governi illuminati e religioni non fondamentaliste, insieme hanno il potere di rimodellare la civiltà e portarla verso una coesistenza armoniosa.

 

Dal forum sono sorti l’unità di intenti, in particolare con il Venerabile Yanjue, Presidente dell'Associazione buddista cinese, e l’impegno delle religioni presenti a perseguire questi scopi per il beneficio dell’intera umanità.

 

Ringrazio il presidente della FMT, Rev. M° Li Guangfu, per la fiducia accordatami e il presidente della ACSRC, dott. Duan Yijun, per la eccellente ospitalità e il grande e capillare impegno che ha consentito il pieno successo dell’evento.

At the invitation of the China Association for Religious and Cultural Exchanges (CARCE), the World Federation of Daoism (WFD) sent me as its representative to bring the voice of Taoism to this important seminar.

Buddhism, Islam, and Taoism engaged in fraternal dialogue on a common and timely theme.

 

This forum, the eleventh consecutive religious-themed sub-forum held in Boao, Hainan, has become an important platform for exchanges between Chinese and foreign religious cultures and for promoting mutual learning among civilizations.

 

In my speech, I emphasized the profound convergence between religious dialogue and multilateralism, drawing on the ancient Taoist wisdom of "governing the people and serving Heaven."

I emphasized that the World Taoist Federation practices the concept of harmonious coexistence and unity between Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism in China and with other faiths around the world, in strong harmony with the global governance initiative of "multilateralism," and is always open to dialogue.

 

Furthermore, since approximately 80% of the world's population professes a religious faith, religions can serve as an important bridge for dialogue between civilizations and be a reliable interlocutor for governments, supporting social policies based on peace, harmony, acceptance of diversity, growth, and common well-being, avoiding dangerous and harmful ego-centered polarizations.

 

Enlightened governments and non-fundamentalist religions together have the power to reshape civilization and lead it toward harmonious coexistence.

 

The forum engendered a unity of purpose, particularly with Venerable Yanjue, President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, and a commitment from the religions present to pursue these goals for the benefit of all humanity.

 

I thank the President of the WFD, Rev. Master Li Guangfu, for his trust in me, and the President of the CARCE, Dr. Duan Yijun, for his excellent hospitality and the extensive and thorough commitment that made the event a complete success.

Il cuore della celebrazione, recitato in italiano e cinese per consentire anche agli italiani presenti di comprendere la sacralità del rito, è stato l’antico rito del 开光 Kaiguang, “apertura alla luce divina”, conosciuto anche come "apertura degli occhi" (开眼 kai yan).

Esso è considerato un passo fondamentale per stabilire un collegamento tra il mondo umano e quello spirituale.

Dopo aver benedetto e purificato lo spazio e le persone presenti, il Rev. M° Li Xuanzong, seguendo la procedura antica e recitando i sacri mantra, ha consacrato le statue evocando la discesa della “luce divina” e imprimendola in varie aree. 

 

Con questo rito la statua prende vita, smette di essere un simbolo perché in essa risiederà l’energia spirituale della divinità che rappresenta. Grazie a questo i fedeli possono rivolgere le loro preghiere rafforzando il legane spirituale ma anche la fede comunitaria.

 

La comunità cinese di Prato ha accolto con favore questa nuova presenza, vedendo nel tempio un punto di riferimento per la crescita spirituale ma anche di identità e di radici culturali.

 

Promuovendo i valori di pace e armonia che animano la religione taoista, questa inaugurazione è una pietra miliare per la diffusione del Taoismo a beneficio dell’intera Famiglia Umana.

The inauguration of the new Taoist place of worship was an event of great cultural and spiritual significance for Prato, home to Italy’s largest Chinese community.

 

The new temple, designed with architectural elements reflecting Taoist principles, features a large interior space dedicated to meditation and prayer, surrounded by statues of various deities.

 

The consecration ceremony was conducted by Rev. Master Li Xuanzong 李玄宗, president of the Association, assisted by Master Wang Zongping 王宗平, vice-president, Rev. Master Wei Xinxuan 卫信玄, president of the Association Taoiste de France, and the initiate Li Gaoping 李高平, with the kind participation of Master Xu Shihe 许师合.

 

The centrepiece of the celebration, conducted in Italian and Chinese to enable the Italians present to understand the sacred nature of the rite, was the ancient ritual of 开光 Kaiguang, ‘opening to the divine light’, also known as the ‘opening of the eyes’ (开眼 kai yan).

It is regarded as a fundamental step in establishing a connection between the human and spiritual worlds.

 

After blessing and purifying the space and those present, Rev. Master Li Xuanzong, following the ancient procedure and reciting the sacred mantras, consecrated the statues by invoking the descent of the ‘divine light’ and imprinting it upon various parts of them. 

 

Through this ritual, the statue comes to life.

It ceases to be merely a symbol, since it will now house the spiritual energy of the deity it represents.

 

Thanks to this, the faithful can offer their prayers, strengthening not only their spiritual bond but also the community’s faith.

 

The Chinese community in Prato has welcomed this new presence, seeing the temple as a focal point not only for spiritual growth but also for identity and cultural roots.

 

By promoting the values of peace and harmony that underpin the Taoist religion, this inauguration marks a milestone in the spread of Taoism for the benefit of the entire human family.

L’inauguration de ce nouveau lieu de culte taoïste a constitué un événement d’une grande importance culturelle et spirituelle pour Prato, où réside la plus grande communauté chinoise d’Italie.

 

Le nouveau temple, conçu avec des éléments architecturaux qui rappellent les principes taoïstes, abrite en son sein un vaste espace dédié à la méditation et à la prière, entouré de statues représentant diverses divinités.

 

Le cœur de la célébration, récité en italien et en chinois afin de permettre également aux Italiens présents de comprendre le caractère sacré du rite, a été l’ancien rite du 开光 Kaiguang, « ouverture à la lumière divine », également connu sous le nom d’« ouverture des yeux » (开眼 kai yan).

Ce rite est considéré comme une étape fondamentale pour établir un lien entre le monde humain et le monde spirituel.

 

Après avoir béni et purifié l’espace et les personnes présentes, le révérend maître Li Xuanzong, suivant la procédure ancestrale et en récitant les mantras sacrés, a consacré les statues en invoquant la descente de la « lumière divine » et en l’imprégnant dans divers endroits. 

 

Grâce à ce rituel, la statue prend vie ; elle cesse d’être un simple symbole, car elle abrite désormais l’énergie spirituelle de la divinité qu’elle représente.

 

Grâce à cela, les fidèles peuvent adresser leurs prières, renforçant ainsi le lien spirituel mais aussi la foi communautaire.

 

La communauté chinoise de Prato a accueilli favorablement cette nouvelle présence, voyant dans le temple un point de référence pour la croissance spirituelle, mais aussi pour l’identité et les racines culturelles.

 

En promouvant les valeurs de paix et d’harmonie qui animent la religion taoïste, cette inauguration constitue une étape importante pour la diffusion du taoïsme au profit de toute la famille humaine.

La inauguración del nuevo lugar de culto taoísta supuso un acontecimiento de gran importancia cultural y espiritual para Prato, donde reside la comunidad china más numerosa de Italia.

 

El nuevo templo, diseñado con elementos arquitectónicos que evocan los principios taoístas, cuenta en su interior con un amplio espacio dedicado a la meditación y la oración, rodeado de estatuas de diversas deidades.

 

El momento central de la celebración, recitado en italiano y chino para que también los italianos presentes pudieran comprender el carácter sagrado del rito, fue el antiguo rito del 开光 Kaiguang, «apertura a la luz divina», también conocido como «apertura de los ojos» (开眼 kai yan).

Se considera un paso fundamental para establecer una conexión entre el mundo humano y el espiritual.

 

Tras bendecir y purificar el espacio y a los presentes, el reverendo maestro Li Xuanzong, siguiendo el procedimiento ancestral y recitando los mantras sagrados, consagró las estatuas invocando el descenso de la «luz divina» e imprimiéndola en diversas zonas. 

 

Con este rito, la estatua cobra vida y deja de ser un simple símbolo, ya que en ella residirá la energía espiritual de la deidad a la que representa.

 

Gracias a ello, los fieles pueden dirigir sus oraciones, fortaleciendo así el vínculo espiritual, pero también la fe comunitaria.

 

La comunidad china de Prato ha acogido con agrado esta nueva presencia, viendo en el templo un punto de referencia para el crecimiento espiritual, pero también para la identidad y las raíces culturales.

 

Al promover los valores de paz y armonía que animan la religión taoísta, esta inauguración supone un hito para la difusión del taoísmo en beneficio de toda la Familia Humana.
